AA State Tournament Bracket
Congratulations to Da Orioles and their first-ever State Championship.
Great job young men! We're very proud of your accomplishment.
Winning State Tournament is not a small feat. For such school like ours, this is our first time ever
since the State Tournament started in 1975. That's 33 years ago. Many of players' parents were just graduated
from high school or still in junior high.

State Tournament Championship @ Metrodome.
Varsity 4-1 St. Louis Park.
Away game. WE ARE STATE CHAMPIONS. What an exhilaration feeling in winning the ultimate
title of State AA Champions. Da Orioles know they had to be playing high level of soccer and give
120% to win this game and fill the gap for injured Whitney Browne and Luke VanGeest.
Both Orioles teams started out in quick pace and pressuring on the defenses.
At 2-min mark, John Neufville drove in the box and let out a hard shot at the tenth on left but shot a little too high.
Seesaw battle at midfield area that no one has an advantage. St.Louis Park (SLP) got free on right
and crossed one in for a score with the header. Miscommunication between Tendeh Brownell and Patrick Amoako
and let SLP attacker walked in for a header. Da Orioles has been down this road before and started to pump
more gas into the engine. At 5-min mark, Lucas penetration run on left, got the ball, and set it up for
Albert Sims but it was close and broken up by SLP defense. At 8-min mark, John got another shot off from
twelfth but it was saved. Da Orioles starting to get dangerous and chances to score.
At 21-min mark, Quinn Cardille hit the corner kick to John at sixteenth and he shot hard for a goal. Even at 1-1.
At 31-min mark, Emmitt Dixon received a pass and shot hard on right but it was saved. The seesaw battle at
midfield continued to end of first-half. Even at 1-1. Second-half started with SLP putting hard pressure on
out defense. Patrick had to make a save on dangerous low and hard shot on left. Not backing down Da Orioles
attacked and at 6-min mark Ahmad Bah on left dribbled up and beat couple of defenders in the box
and shot low to near post and it just snuck in on the diving goalkeeper. Up 2-1.
At 8-min mark, Patrick had to make another save on low and hard shot from left side.
At 13-min mark, John on left received a passed from Emmitt Dixon just outside the box and he dribbled into the box.
After beating one defender he let out a shot and it got deflected by another defender and went in for his second goal
of the night. Up 3-1. Now Da Orioles are at cruising speed. Seesaw battle continued with both sides had chances to score.
At 28-min mark, Lucas won the ball at midfield, found Emmitt Dixon and gave a quick pass, Emmitt one-touched to
Albert Sims and he found himself looking at the charging goalkeeper. Albert juked the goalkeeper on left
and cut right and walked in for an easiest goal. Up 4-1.
The defense of George, Tendeh, Jason Peterson, and Bennett denied SLP multiple attacks.
The confident level is high and there's nothing to stop Da Orioles from owning the title now.
At 37-min mark, Whitney Browne made a cameo appearance in the game and to a
thunderous cheer from the fans and his teammates. They're showing their appreciation for a job well done
in the season. The clock winding down and Da Orioles fans counting down to 0:00 seconds for a deservedly victory
and to be called STATE CHAMPIONS! Congratulations to Osseo Orioles the 2008 State Champions!!!
Scorers: John Neufville (2), Ahmad Bah, Albert Sims.

State Tournament Semifinal @ Metrodome.
Varsity 4-1 Coon Rapids.
Away game. Da Orioles were just excited to be playing in Metrodome. We've started up the game with
John Neufville penetrating attacks on left and had several chances to put us up earlier on.
Lucas Hoang controlling the midfield and supporting the attacks of Whitney Browne and Ahmad Bah.
At 12:20-min mark, the Cardinals scored on right defensive side. Da Orioles have been down this road
before and concentrating on getting equalizer. Pushing a little harder, George joined in the attacks
and got fouled (held up) in the box. Ahmad Bah stepped up and put in the PK.
The Cardinals starting to feel the shakes, Da Orioles continued to dominate the midfield with Lucas
and putting pressure in attacks. At 35:30-min mark, Albert Sims received a ball on right side and
got freed up to put the ball to Emmitt Dixon and he dropped it back to Lucas at the key and he fired
hard and low to left corner for the go ahead goal. Da Orioles train can't be stopped now.
Leading 2-1 at half. The Cardinals regrouped and started strong in second-half with couple of real
chances to score but Patrick Amoako stopped them all. At 17:40 working in midfield, Ahmad received the ball
on right and penetrated in box and let the shot off but was blocked by GK. Emmitt followed through with a shot
on the rebound and was blocked by the arm of defender in the goal.
Red card issued to defender and PK awarded to Da Orioles.
Ahmad stepped up and put in another PK.
At 36:30 Ahmad dribbled through 2 defenders and beat the charging GK to scored his hat-trick for the night.
It's great to see so many of our fans coming and cheering Da Orioles on.
Scorers: Ahmad Bah (1 goal and 2 PK's), Lucas Hoang.

State Tournament Quarterfinal @ Irondale HS.
Varsity 3-1 Lakeville North.
Away game. We've made a new milestone in Osseo soccer history in reaching the semifinal round of State Tournament.
Another curse is lifted. Da Orioles started the game pressing attacks on the Panthers
and controlling the plays most of the half with Lucas Hoang and John Neufville in the midfield. There were several
close chances but those final touches were little off the mark and not connecting for the shots. The Panthers took
1-0 lead in final seconds of first-half with a high looping ball. Patrick Amoako misjudged the flight of the ball
in pitch dark sky and stadium lights and let it in.
A little bit stunned by the goal but not shaken. Da Orioles came out pushing the attacks harder with
Whitney Browne, Albert Sims, Ahmad Bah, John, Lucas, and Quinn Cardille.
There were several pushing incidents in the box that could be called for the penalty
and finally it was called on the right defender tripping John in the box. Ahmad put it away for the
equalizer 1-1 at 3:30-min mark. Now Da Orioles got the momentum going and continued to dominate the midfield,
they're probing for holes in the defense and finally found a sequence of passing from Lucas to Whitney to Ahmad to
Albert and he put it away for the go ahead goal. Fans cheering on the boys in celebration.
Feeling good and wanting more Da Orioles kept the attacks in high mode. At 16:50-min mark, Tendeh Brownell overlapped
Quinn and put a curling cross into the box and found Albert for a header-tap in. Leading 3-1.
The Panthers pressured more attacks and fired few more shots to find goals but all were bravely stopped by Patrick.
Da Orioles defense with George Kawalawu, Tendeh, Jason Peterson, and Luke VanGeest held tight till
the end for the victory and a new milestone in Osseo soccer history.
On a side note, it's really fun to see the Osseo spirit demonstrated with the fans and cheerleaders.
The team sang Happy Birthday song to Lucas and wished him the best on his birthday after the game.
Scorers: Ahmad Bah (PK), Albert Sims (2).

Section 5AA Championship
Varsity 2-1 Maple Grove.
Home game. Third time is the charm as the saying goes and it's ringing true for Da Orioles.
The last two times when we made to Section Championship were back in '04 and '05 and lost
to Park Center and Wayzata respectively. This time Da Orioles made sure history won't repeat itself.
At the bell, Da Orioles starting the attacks with Lucas Hoang controlling the middle to create
several real chances to score but John Neufville was a bit slow in pulling the trigger.
At 14-min mark, Patrick Amoaku misjudged the lofty direct-kick and let it slipped by for a goal down.
Da Orioles continued the attacks but the Crimsons weathered out the storms to take 1-0 lead at half.
Starting of second-half, Da Orioles poured on the gas on the attacks at every angles
and kept the cylinders churning at full speed at the Crimson 10-man bunker defense.
There were chances and chances for Da Orioles to equalize but just off the mark.
There was a melee of shots pounding the Crimson goal with Lucas point-blank rocket shot
in close range to the Keeper's gut and he saved it.
Pressure continued to mount to the boiling point and finally at 30-min mark,
the Crimson defense broke down with George Kawalawu
throw-in to Ahmad Bah and he let out a bicycle kick at the sixth to beat the Keeper.
The home crowd let out a thunderous cheer. That was one incredible shot.
Not too often that you see those shots going in.
Smelling blood Da Orioles poured on more gas to the attacking engine and kept the pedal to the metal.
At 33-min mark, John Neufville crossed a perfect ball from the end line to the sixth where
Tendeh Brownell from his defensive position coming in strong to pound a header home for a goal.
The Crimson GK didn't have a chance in saving it. That was one powerful header! WOW!
He was then mobbed on the field by his teammates. This time the home crowd went wild and ballistic.
The coaches and the players on the bench jumped up and down cheering like little boys.
Da Orioles know there's no way in stopping them from reaching that Championship title.
They held on to thunderous victory cheer and celebration for they know the Curse of the Section has been
broken. Now they can enjoy this victorious and historic moment of this night. WE ARE SECTION CHAMPIONS!
Scorers: Ahmad Bah, Tendeh Brownell.

Away game. Da Orioles started strong with Whitney Browne scored on the left side in first 5-minute.

Well someone gonna be going home loser tonight and it ain't gonna be us. It's a tight game and you can tell it in the air.
Da Orioles started the game with flurry of attacks starting from the midfield area controlling by Lucas Hoang and Ahmad Bah.
Whitney Browne missed two breakaways and several others missing their chances to put up the goals as well. 0-0 at half.
Second-half Da Orioles kept pounding on the Rebels door and soon it broke.
Whitney Browne got a feed from Ahmad on right and beat his man to blast in a goal just inside the box.
Not to make this game anymore dramatic, Da Orioles gave up an easy goal. 1-1 even up.
With 6 minutes to end, one more time Ahmad found Whitney on right with a pass and once again Whitney beat his man
to blast in another goal inside the box.
Da Orioles will clinch the conference title with a win against Elk River this Thursday.

Attacks continued in second-half, at 14-min mark Lucas Hoang blasted for a goal on right with pass from Albert Sims/

The foul was uncalled for and we wish the Blaine's player the best in recovery.
You can be sure this sort of action will not be tolerated in the future and be dealt with harshly.
Second, we commend the Bengals team in stepping up and playing a great game while with one-man down
for most part of the game. The Bengals scored short-handed at 23-min mark with most of Da Orioles
still got cobweb in their eyes. At 39-min mark, Peter Hager drove up from the back with three
defenders on his back, he let loose a shot and scored from the left. 1-1 at half.
Whitney Browne added two more goals in the second-half. I applaud the concentration and work ethic

Away game. Feeling confident coming into this rivalry game, Da Orioles poured on the attacks.
At 5-min mark, Patrick Amoako scored on a hustle play in the box. Da Orioles dominated the midfield
play to setup attacks on many fronts. The Crimsons did a good job defending the on coming attacks.
At 35-min mark, a nice 1-2 combo play between Albert Sims to Ahmad Bah and he evaded two defenders
to slot the ball in for a goal. 2-0 at half. The attacks continued throughout the second-half.
The Crimsons Goalkeeper did a good job in keeping the ball out of the net. Not for long, another
1-2 combo play between Albert and Ahmad and he once again scored at close range while defender
frozen at his position. Nice game gentlemen.

Home game. No need to emphasis the importance of this match. Whoever wins it will have
a good position in taking the conference title. It was a seesaw battle between the teams with
Da Orioles had better chances to score but squandered those chances away with weak shots.
At 21-min mark, The Cardinals penetrated on left and was fouled in box and scored on penalty kick.
After that back to seesaw battle with few good chances between the teams. Down 0-1 at half.
At 3-min mark into second-half, the Cardinals scored from left side.
Down 0-2 and Da Orioles feeling pressure and starting to turn up Da Heat.
At 7-min mark, Patrick Amoako scored on a header from corner kick by John Neufville.
Da Orioles pressed more attacks and well defended by the Cardinals.
At 15-min mark, on a counter-attack Whitney Browne was fouled by Goalkeeper in the box and
Ahmad Bah converted for an equalizer. Even 2-2. Da Orioles attacking machine in full throttle.
At 25-min mark, John Neufville sent a perfect through-ball to Whitney and he pounded for a goal.
Up 3-2. The Cardinals starting to rally back with more attacking pressure but Da Orioles defense held firm.
At 28-min mark, the Cardinals headed in the corner kick for an equalizer and sent the game into OT.
In overtime, Da Orioles got two good chances to put the game away but very close.

Varsity 3-1 Irondale (OT).
Home game. Once again we're playing in the rain but not as bad as last game.
It's hard to control ball in slippery condition but Da Orioles do what they can.
At 5min mark, nice working in right midfield to penetrate inside for Albert Sims to setup
a perfect through-ball for Whitney to run on and scored. It was back to dominating the midfield,
working into attacking-third but failed to put any balls in back of net. The Knights got a break
on mismarking and scored for an equalizer. 1-1 at half. Still raining and back at dominating midfield
but just couldn't find gaps in defense to score in second-half. Many opportunities to score but just close.
I'm impressed with Lucas Hoang effort at the midfield play in setting up the plays,
distributing balls, and penetrating.
Da Orioles starting to get a hang of the weather condition still in attacking mode. Whitney Browne took
corner kick to Quinn Cardille and he put it away in 1st-OT. Ahmad Bah put a through ball to Whitney for
a breakaway score in 2nd-OT. Nice job gentlemen.

Varsity 2-1 Centennial.
Away game. Da Orioles not looking like themselves and sharp tonight. A lot of hustle but going nowhere.
Losing possession through sloppy passing and ball-hoarding. The hard rain and slippery field may have
a hand in that. Once again Da Orioles were nice enough to give an own goal from the corner kick to
John Neufville at 10min mark. At times Da Orioles played like their own-self with accurate passing and
controlling of the midfield. Started from the back with Luke VanGeest to Alex Vo to John Neufville
to Lucas Hoang to Albert Sims and Albert slotted it home at 18min mark.
That was a great play. At 8min mark, Tendeh Brownell
chipped a ball up front and John took it in to score amid offside call confusion but it wasn't.
2-1 Orioles at half. The struggles continued in second-half and the Cougars kept pressing but Da Orioles
defense did a good job in denying their equalizer. My compliments to the team defense in handling the
pressure especially Lucas Hoang, Jason Peterson, Peter Hager, Tendeh Brownell, and Luke VanGeest.

Soon it came when Whitney served a corner kick to Ahmad Bah and he pounded home for a goal. 1-0 score.
Anoka Tornadoes for past year is wellknown for the deadly air game with headers and throw-ins.
On a throw-in, Tornadoes inbounded hard to the goal and Albert Sims tried to head it out but it deflected in for own goal.
1-1 score at the half. Da Orioles came out after the rest and went on attacks after attacks but the only thing missing is finishing.
Finally the play came out from the back on Tendeh Brownell's clearance to Ahamad and he played to Whitney for a run and he scored.
Overall it's a good game with midfield domination and plenty of attacking game.

Varsity 1-2 Armstrong.
Home game. Da Orioles owned the midfield game and soon Ahmad found a hole in defense
and setup it up and with Whitney's effort in evading three defenders on his back to score the goal.
There were many chances for Da Orioles to score but it wouldn't go our ways.
Talking about midfield domination and creating chances to pound the ball for goals. 1-0 Orioles at half.
The Falcons started to press and was awarded with an own goal on deflection off Jason Peterson's clearance.
1-1 score. Da Orioles still owning the midfield play and pressed attacks against bunker defense.
The Falcons all they could do is to pack the box and boot up for counter-attack and it worked for a goal
on miscommunication between Jason Peterson and Tyler Ladd. 1-2 score. Da Orioles created more chances
but couldn't find back of net. Da Orioles owned the possession time and shots and chances and soon we'll
find back of net. Opponent's boot-n-run game won't last long.

and this year is no exception. Da Orioles Whitney Browne scored on Al Vo's cross from left at 7:45min mark.
A bad clearance from our defense gave up a goal at 24min mark.
Patrick Amoako one-touch goal from Ahmad Bah's pass at 32min mark.
Da Orioles game so far was a bit untidy but leading 2-1 at half.
The Pirates came out second-half blazing and putting heat on Da Orioles.
At 6:35min mark, our Tendeh Brownell gave a gift (own goal) to the Pirates. 2-2 score.
At 7:42min mark, Da Orioles counter-attacked with Whitney slotted one in from Ahmad's combo play. 3-2 score.
At 20min mark, another bad clearance from defense resulted in Pirates goal. 3-3 score.
Da Orioles finally settled down and controlled the midfield to find holes in Pirates defense and found
three times. At 29:27min, Whitney scored, Ahmad assisted. At 35:49, Whitney scored, Lucas Hoang assisted.
At 38:26min, Ahmad scored on a header, Patrick assisted. That was a GOALS FEST and exciting game.
Scorers: Whitney Browne (4), Ahmad Bah, Patrick Amoaku.

Varsity 4-3 Minneapolis South.
Away game. Strong start with chances to score early. Finally it came with Quinn Cardille slotted home
from Alex Vo's perfect low and hard pass across the sixth. Lucas Hoang, Ahmad Bah, and George Kawalawu
dominated the midfield and stymied the Tigers. Strong defense with Jason Peterson, Tendeh Brownell,
and Luke VanGeest denying the Tigers fast and furious attacks. The Wingers Alex Vo and Quinn Cardille
gave plenty of problems as well. Second-half Da Orioles kept the foot on the pedal and pressing
attacks on many fronts. Finally the Tigers defense crumbled and Whitney Browne put in three goals with
assists from Lucas, Ahmad, and Patrick Amoaku. Up 4-1 Da Orioles took the foot off the pedal and let
the Tigers scored two near end of game. The players have done well this past three hard games. Our hats
are off to them. Nice job!
Scorers: Whitney Browne (3), Quinn Cardille.

Varsity 2-2 Hopkins.
Away game. Started slow probably not fully recovered from tough game yesterday.
Three tough games in three straight days is a tall order. The Royals took the lead early.
Da Orioles plays started to come together and with Ahmad Bah perfect pass and Whitney Browne
pounded home for a score. Second-half continued with dominating the midfield play, Peter Hager
started the play from the back and finished a goal off the shot from Whitney. Excellent play!
The Royals scored near the end to send game into OT. Da Orioles had better chances but finishing
is another matter. Overall it was a good and exciting game. Good job team.
Scorers: Whitney Browne, Peter Hager.

Varsity 3-2 Rochester Century.
Away game. It was a seesaw midfield battle for most part of the first half with Da Orioles outshooting the opponents.
The Panthers put up a good defense in breaking up the attacks in the middle. At 30-min mark, the 1-2 combo play between
Whitney Browne and Ahmad Bah and sent Whitney face-to-face with the Keeper and he slotted it home.
Second-half the Panthers came out swinging and our defense held tight. In doing so, the Panthers opened up a few holes
in the defense and Da Orioles took care of that and scored two goals in last 20 minutes. The Panthers were able to score
two when a few Orioles went out for a breather but defense held tight for a nice win.
Scorers: Whitney Browne (3).

Varsity 5-2 Spring Lake Park.
Away game. Through controlling the midfield game between Ahmad Bah and John Neufville,
Da Orioles were able to create attacks on many fronts. Whitney Browne scored at 10-minute mark
with a pass from George Kawalawu in the box. At 15-min mark Ahmad Bah scored on a feed from Whitney.
The Panthers were able to trade goals twice to even up the score at 2 on miscommunication on the defending line.
Da Orioles kept the heat on and scored three goals in last 5 minutes before the half.
Second half was a little sloppy on the passes and uncoordinated attacks lead to no additional goals.
Many were close but no cigar. A good start for the team.
Scorers: Whitney Browne (3), Ahmad Bah (2).
